INSURANCE RELATED INFORMATION Call us first! When you call us first; we can find existing damage if there is damage, do measurements and create drawings that help the adjuster. If there is no damage, it is to your advantage to not call your adjuster and have a claim filed that counts as a claim weather or not you are awarded a loss amount. You are also better off because we are there with your adjuster later and can point out things that most people would not know about and that can cost you later. We want to get you the most for your money. One example is that if you are awarded new fascia without the insurance paying for gutter removal and reset; you get fascia half the size and pushed up behind the gutter, it looks the same but you are not getting as much as you should. We can still file for supplements to cover things like this, but that takes more time and trouble and that adds up to more money and time to finish the job. DO I HAVE HAIL DAMAGE? This paper is also helpful in explaining why your roof looks like it does. Note that it seems to give the opinion that smaller hail does not necessarily harm your roof even though there is granule loss, this is an on going controversy and I suppose that realistically, the amount of loss is what should determine whether or not and how much of a claim should be paid. Also, the part that speaks about the ACV that will be paid to you for repair of your roof minus the deductible is correct, but it is usual to recover the depreciation after the repairs are completed, as is General Contractor Overhead & Profit which all plays into the claim amount. On a good claim, between the insurance company's payout, the contractors concessions and the homeowners contribution, the job can be completed to the satisfaction of all with the least amount of pain.
